FAQs

What is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC)?

1

A Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) is a nationally recognized designation through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). This credential requires the completion of a Master’s degree in counselling psychology or a related field, along with supervised clinical experience and adherence to professional and ethical standards.

Can I claim sessions through my insurance?

2

Insurance coverage varies between providers and individual benefit plans. Depending on your plan, Open House Psychology may be able to submit claims through direct billing, or you may need to pay for your session and submit the receipt to your insurer for reimbursement. Some plans may not cover services provided by a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). Direct billing does not guarantee coverage or payment. We encourage you to confirm your eligibility directly with your insurer before your appointment. Clients remain responsible for any portion of the session fee not covered by insurance.

How do I know if therapy is the right fit?

3

Counselling can be helpful for a wide range of concerns, including feeling overwhelmed, navigating life transitions, managing emotions, or working through relationship challenges. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from support. If you are unsure, a brief consultation can help determine whether this approach feels like a good fit for your needs.
