Meet Brenna
Hi, I'm Brenna.
I'm the founder of Open House Psychology and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). I created Open House Psychology with the hope of building a space that feels calm, welcoming, and genuinely comfortable—a place where children, teens, young adults, and families feel at ease from the moment they walk through the door.
Whether you're seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family, I know how important it is to find someone who feels like the right fit. I believe meaningful therapy begins with a genuine relationship built on trust, curiosity, and understanding, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they navigate life's challenges.
I work primarily with children, teens, and young adults experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. Every person brings a unique story, which is why I tailor therapy to the individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a teacher, school counsellor, and post-secondary instructor. Those experiences continue to shape the way I practice today, giving me a deep understanding of the academic, social, and developmental pressures that many young people and families navigate.
When working with children and adolescents, I value partnering with parents and caregivers. Together, we build practical strategies, strengthen communication, and create consistency between therapy and home to support meaningful, lasting change.
My hope is that when you walk through the doors of Open House Psychology, you'll find more than a therapy office—you'll find a place where you can breathe a little easier, feel supported, and leave with greater confidence in your ability to navigate whatever comes next.
Meet Marvin
Marvin is a trained therapy dog who joins Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) sessions when it's therapeutically appropriate and requested by clients. With his calm nature, gentle personality, and uncanny ability to know when someone simply needs quiet company, he helps create an environment where people can feel a little more at ease.
Whether he's resting nearby during a session or offering a reassuring presence through a difficult conversation, Marvin has a special way of helping clients feel comfortable. For many children, teens, and even adults, his presence can make therapy feel a little less intimidating and a little easier to step into.
When he's not working, Marvin enjoys long walks, finding the sunniest spot in the office for an afternoon nap, and making the occasional (very enthusiastic) trip to Homesense. He's just as happy soaking up belly rubs as he is quietly snoozing beside the couch.
Because every client is different, Marvin only participates in sessions when it's the right fit. Animal-Assisted Therapy is always optional, and clients who prefer traditional therapy can feel confident knowing Marvin will not be present during their appointments.
We can't wait for you to meet him—if and when the time is right.
